Abstract Details

Purpose:

To describe interface corneal edema secondary to steroid-induced elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) following LASIK in myopic Egyptian patients.

Setting:

El-Gowhara Eye Center

Methods:

A retrospective, coherent, chart review study.Files of 1807 patients (3489 eyes) who underwent LASIK to correct myopia from April 2012 and December 2015 at El-Gowhar eye center, Ismailia, Egypt were operated and reviewed by one surgeon (A.G.) for interface fluid after laser in situ keratomileusis associated with elevation of intraocular pressures (IOP) (as compared to preoperative values)

Results:

Fifty-four patients (102 eyes) 3% of the total operated eyes (18men and 36 women) aged from 23 to 34 years had interface fluid after laser in situ keratomileusis with an elevation of intraocular pressures (IOP) (as compared to preoperative values) were identified.

Conclusions:

This case series describes the incidence of interface edema among Egyptian patients that associated with elevated intraocular pressure.
