Abstract Details

To report the rare occurrence of bilateral conjuctival diverticulae as a late sequelae of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS).

Moorfields eye hospital, London, UK.

Case report of a 75-year-old woman with a prior history of Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) presenting with chronic relapsing conjunctivitis secondary to a conjuctival diverticulum who showed significant improvement in symptoms and clinical signs after diverticular marsuplizaiton.

SJS can cause sequestration of conjuctival epithelium which may in turn lead to conjuctival diverticuli.

Conjuctival diverticulitis should be considered in any patient with a prior history of SJS and chronic relapsing purulent conjunctivitis FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
