Abstract Details



Purpose:

Using an objective method to topographically determine functional optical zone (TFOZ) dimensions in order to compare ablation centration and refractive outcomes following myopic laser in LASIK with a 750Hz flying spot laser with 1050Hz tracker and a 1050Hz flying spot laser with a 1050Hz tracker with a novel predictive eye tracking system.

Jerry Tan Por Yong Ming Eye Surgery, Singapore

Methods:

Thirty eyes that underwent LASIK using the SCHWIND 750S Excimer laser with 1050Hz eye tracking were retrospectively compared to 30 matched eyes treated with the SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS Excimer laser with a novel predictive tracking system. Visual acuity, refractive error, and corneal topography were measured pre- and post-operatively. A novel topographic technique was used to assess centration.

Results:

There was no statistical difference in centration of laser ablation between the SCHWIND Amaris 750S Excimer laser with the 1050Hz eye tracking compared with the SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS Excimer laser with the predictive eye tracking system.

Conclusions:

The novel method of predictive eye tracking using an eye tracker of 1050Hz guiding the laser using a similar frequency of ablation is reliable in achieving zero latency eye tracking. It is as accurate in centration as a laser with a 750Hz ablation rate and 1050Hz tracking speed.
