Abstract Details

To evaluate with anterior segment oct the Amniotic membrane stromal inclusion after AMT in neurotrophic corneal ulcer

Istituto Clinico Humanitas - Milan (Italy)

Amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) is an effective treatment for neurotrophic ulceration as an alternative to tarsorraphy or to application of conjunctival flap. The anterior segment OCT can provide a detailed imaging of the amniotic membrane stromal inclusion. A multilayered AMT was transplanted in a 82yrs old patient suffering from a deep neurotrophic corneal ulceration , (visual acuity 1/20, 156µ of residual stroma.) preoperative imaging and monthly follow up were performed using a Zeiss cirrus HD anterior OCT to evaluate the corneal recovering and the amniotic membrane stromal inclusion during the time.

6 months after treatment OCT showed a recovered full-tichness stroma (440µ), with a clearly visible AMT inclusion. BSCVA was 4/10.

Multilayer filling of amniotic membrane transplantation in neurotrophic ulcer is an eligible procedure in anterior segment reconstruction . Anterior oct is effective and sensitive tool to evaluate the postoperative amniotic membrane stromal inclusion and corneal restore. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
