Twenty patients with severe vernal conjunctivitis who were not responding to topical antihistamines, mast cell stabilizers and steroids were given topical CsA 2%. Ocular symptoms and findings were evaluated before and after treatment.

Twenty patients (12 boys, 8 girls) with a mean age of 9.2 (range 5-13 years) were included in the study. Significant relief in symptoms and significant improvement were observed with topical CsA 2% therapy (p<0.05, Wilcoxon signed rank test), and also the need for steroids was reduced. No side effects were observed during the follow-up period.
