Slit lamp photography of traumatic cataract and its analysis for surgical management

Abstract Details



Purpose:

Traumatic cataract presents with different ways. Management of these cases varies from case to case. Slit lamp photography of these cases help to prepare the mind set before start of surgery and analysis of steps of surgery for better visual outcome.

Setting:

Work done at Navneet hospital, Solapur, India

Methods:

Slit Lamp Photographs of Traumatic Cataract cases presented at Navneet Hospital, Solapur from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013 have been taken and analyzed. All steps of surgery like incision, capsulorhexis , nucleus management , irrigation & aspiration, insertion of PMMA or foldable lenses and role of OVDs varies from case to case. These all steps can be presumed by seeing slit lamp photographs which has been narrated in this poster.

Results:

Slit Lamp Photography is important for further plan of surgery and surgeon can keep many things ready in his hands (like different type of OVDs, CTR, tryphan blue solution, iris hook, different types of IOLs and Vitrectomy set etc.) before start of surgery for better surgical procedure.

Conclusions:

Slit Lamp Photography of traumatic cataract cases is really helpful to analyse and to prepare the mindset of surgeon before the surgery for better surgical work up with less complication and finally better visual outcome. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
