Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the possibility and quality of a simultaneous refractive and toric lens change inside a standard hydrophobic Intraocular lens.

Setting:

The study was performed in laboratories of Perfect Lens, LLC, Irvine, CA, USA.

Methods:

Using RIS technology a 23D IOL was treated using +2D refractive and +1D toric lens design. The designed lens was shaped into the intraocular lens using the Perfector 3 system. The MTF and the Diopter was measured before and after shaping using a Lambda X PMTF measurement device..

Results:

The intraocular lens measured 23D in both V and H axis before treatment and after treatment it measured 25D in on and 26D in the other axis. The original MTF was measured to be 0.6 for the 100lp/mm measurement and after treatment the axis with 25D had an MTF of 0.52 and the 26D axis had an MTF of 0.54 in the 100lp/mm measurement.

Conclusions:

The hydrophilicity based refractive index change can be used for a simultaneous intraocular lens adjustment of a refractive and a toric change.
