Abstract Details

To compare visual, refractive outcomes, corneal higher-order aberrations (HOAs) and corneal flap thickness after myopic LASIK using Femto Visum (Russia) and Femto LDV Z6 (Switzerland) femtosecond lasers

The S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, Russia, Moscow

The study included 94 patients (94 eyes) with moderate myopia. Corneal flaps were created using Femto Visum (Visum group, n=48) and Femto LDV Z6 (LDV group, n=46) femtosecond lasers. Patient's examination included uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UDVA and CDVA), spherical equivalent (SE). HOAs were measured using Pentacam Scheimpflug camera. At 1, 3 and 6 months after FemtoLASIK the corneal flap thickness was measured in the horizontal meridian using optical coherence tomography, additionally at one month after the surgery flap thickness was measured in the vertical meridian. Patients were examined before LASIK and 1,3,6 months after the surgery

Postoperatively, the mean SE decreased in the Visum group from -5,07±0,83 D to -0,14±0,30 D, in the LDV group from -5,01±0,84 D to -0,21±0,35 D (t test, p>0.05). Postoperatively UDVA, CDVA, SE, HOAs and mean deviation between achieved and attempted flap thickness had no statistically significant difference between Visum and LDV groups (t test, p>0.05). Morphology of the flaps in the horizontal and vertical meridians was uniform in the both groups, with no statistically significant difference between two groups (t test, p>0.05)

The outcomes were excellent with Femto Visum and Femto LDV Z6 femtosecond lasers for LASIK flap creation. There were no significant differences between two femtosecond laser systems
