Abstract Details

To describe the management of post-LASIK refractive error using transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (T-PRK).

Two private practice laser center was involved. Poliambulatorio Centro Europeo, Catania , Italy and Eye Center, Catanzaro, Italy.

15 eyes of ten patients was treated. Topoguided all laser (no-touch) t-PRK was performed using Schwind Amaris 500e excimer laser and Keratron Scout topographer, computing the treatment inside the diameter and thickness of the flap. The treatment parameters were the following: an optical zone of 7.00 mm, a transition zone of 0.85 mm, an ablation zone of 7.85 mm and a maximal ablation depth of 138,5 μm.

Surgery was uneventful. After 6 months thr average UCVA was 20/25. Corneal flaps remained transparent and well adherent to stromal bed, interfaces was unremarkable.

Conclusions: Transepithelial topoguided custom ablation within the flap can be a useful technique for treating mild post-LASIK refractive errors in selected cases.
