Ophtalliance Nantes, Clinique Jule Verne Nantes, Clinique Sourdille Nantes.

A 3 year old patient presented with persistant pupillary membrane in both eyes. He underwent surgical excision of both membranes consisting of injecting viscoelastic agent beneath the strands of the membrane, lysis of the strands with intra-ocular scissors and gentle peeling of the adherent membrane from the anterior capsule.

Bilateral pupillary membranes were excised successfully without any injury to other ocular structures such as the crystalline lens. There were no signs of cataract seen after membrane removal. Significant improvement of the patients social behaviour was noticed post-operatively.

Surgical excision of the persistant pupillary membranes in this case had a verry good functional and esthetic result.
