Abstract Details

To report some promising results in the case of a 52-year-old male patient, which was previously diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma and was treated using a new surgical technique, ab-interno canalectomy using a 25 gauge vitreous cutter.

Clinical Hospital “Nicolae Malaxa”, Bucharest, Romania and Ophthalmology Department of the Târgu Jiu Emergency Hospital, Romania

Retrospective medical chart review and the description of the surgical procedure.

The outcome is a substantial decrease of intra-ocular pressure from 31 mmHg before surgery to 14 mmHg after surgery at right eye, and from 33 mmHg before surgery to 14 mmHg after surgery at left eye, which remained relatively constant for the last year. No further glaucoma therapy was needed.

For this patient ab-interno canalectomy using the 25 gauge vitreous cutter has proved to be an efficient surgical method for treating open angle glaucoma with, so far, a good safety profile.None Financial Disclosure
