Phaco in corneal opacification: sometimes the very difficult is possible and the easy one is out of the question

Abstract Details

Purpose:

The AA want to show how some type of cataract surgery can be easier than the expected, while other situations need to the change surgery approach. At the end there is the challenging question to audience: what would you have done in this case?

Setting:

Versilia Hospital Ophthalmolgy Department, Italy

Methods:

Two very difficult and challenging phaco cataracts in corneal opacifications. Two different approaches to get same good results. One patient suffered of pemphigoid and glaucoma the other one had a Groenouw I dystrophy.

Results:

The cataract were removed and IOL were put in place. The visual acuity improved and the patients were very satisfied.

Conclusions:

Not always what we expect happens during the surgery. Sometime we get the goal easier than the foregone, while in other situations we need to change type of surgery
