Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate relations between AcrySof IQ SN60WF IOL decentration and aberrometric changes by using WASCA abberometry.

Setting:

Sv. Fyodorov 'Eye Microsurgery” clinic, St.-Petersburg Branch, 21 Yaroslav Gashek Str., St.-Petersburg, 192283, Russia.

Methods:

Ocular wavefront aberrations were measured in 34 eyes with a mild degree of AcrySof IQ SN60WF IOL decentration and 22 eyes with severe one dislocation (main groups) by using WASCA Hartmann-Shack aberrometer and CRS-Master aberrometry system (“Carl Zeiss Meditec”). There were also 62 eyes with normal IOL centration and 32 emmetropic patients (control groups).

Results:

Sphere, cylinder and total aberrations level were much more higher in patients with IOL dislocation, than in the others and we obtained average IOL dislocation of 0,76 mm. The IOL decentration correlates insignificantly with any higher‐order aberrations (HOA), but the IOL dislocation increases considerable amount of HOAs (but corneal aberrations did not differ considerably between the all groups).

Conclusions:

IOL dislocation induces maximal amount of HOAs, especially horizontal coma aberrations. The patients with IOL decentration may have not complaints to visual quality. The increasing of HOAs is one of indications to decide a question about IOL repositioning and suturing.
