Abstract Details

The aim is to review the different techniques for management of dislocated intraocular lenses focusing on recent studies and techniques reported in the literature

A’ Ophthalmology Department, University of Athens

The different options of addressing a dislocated IOL are anterior chamber intraocular lens placement, Iris-fixated intraocular lens (either sutured or iris-claw technique), sutured scleral-fixated intraocular lens and sutureless scleral-fixated intraocular lens

. Although many recent studies either highlight a surgical technique or outcomes in a single surgery technique, there are few that directly compare one approach to another, especially in similar patients with comparative pathology.

Regardless of the surgical approach most cases of dislocated IOL replacement result in improved visual outcomes and the surgical technique used depends on the surgeons experience and on predisposing factors for the dislocation.
