Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the influence of the state precorneal tear film on the calculation results of multifocal IOL

Setting:

Medical Centers 'Novyi Zir', Kyiv, Dnipropetrovs’k Ukraine

Methods:

We carried out calculations of multifocal IOL Restor (Alcon) in 53 patients (106 eyes) using a system for digital surgical planning Verion (Alcon), biometer Lenstar LS 900 (Haags Streit), corneal topography Keratron Scout Optikon 2000 (Schwind). For the diagnosis of dry eye syndrome were used sample Norn, Schirmer's test, LIPCOF-test. Patients were divided into group I (main group) - 27 patients (54 eyes) who was appointed instillation of solution ectoine 2%, 2 drops two times a day for 1 month; Group II (control) - 26 patients (52 eyes) without treatment of dry eye syndrome.

Results:

scatter corneal refractive power data in group I - less than 0.5 ± 0.1 D, RMS - 0.31 ± 0.13 μm, in the control group - 1,69 ± 0,32 D, RMS - 0 40 ± 0,21 μm.

Conclusions:

The presence of dry eye syndrome plays an important role in determining the accuracy of refractive corneal parameters in calculating the multifocal IOL.
