Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present clinical data of residual astigmatism, uncorrected and corrected visual acuity and defocuscurve after implantation of the Amo Tecnis Symfony and Symfony Toric IOL in cataractpatients using femtolaser technology.

Setting:

Lasikcentrum, Boxtel, The Netherlands

Methods:

27 eyes of 18 cataract patients were operated by femtolaser assistance (Alcon, LenSx) and phaco emulsification (Amo, Signature) and a Amo Tecnis Symfony (ZXR00, n=10) or Symfony Toric IOL (ZXT100 n=4, ZXT150 n=7, ZXT225 n=3, ZXT300 n=3) was implanted.

Results:

Average residual astigmatism was 0.39D sd 0.37 (ZXT100-150-225-300 groups combined) after 14-360 days postoperatively. The UDVA was ZXR00: 0.92 sd 0,2 and ZXT100-150-225-300 combined: 1,02 sd 0,17 (CDVA: 1.21 sd 0,16). The average defocuscurve declined from S-1.5D (CDVA 0.9) to S-2D (CDVA 0.7) and S-3D (CDVA 0.5).

Conclusions:

Implantation of the Amo Tecnis Symfony and Symfony Toric IOL using femtolaser technology is a safe and effective method for correcting astigmatism and presbyopia in cataract patients.
