Abstract Details

Purpose:

Assessment effectiveness of impression cytology in the diagnosis of ocular surface tumor lesions

Setting:

Some ocular surface tumors could be diagnosed by a simple test

Methods:

We selected 5 patients with diagnosis of ocular surface tumor. These patients underwent impression cytology prior to removal the lesion , and histopathologic examination of the lesion after the surgery. Finally , the results obtained with both techniques were compared

Results:

Both impression cytology and histopathology of the biopsy showed the same result, except in one case

Conclusions:

Impression cytology is a noninvasive technique for obtaining a reliable diagnosis of tumor lesions in ocular surface
