Abstract Details

Purpose:

This study is to evaluate the post operative intermediate vision after implantation of the Bausch & Lomb AKREOS® (Model MI60) Intraocular Lens in adults requiring cataract surgery thus eliminating the need for reading glasses for most of the daily activities of pseudophakic patients .

Setting:

The study was done using the Bausch & Lomb AKREOS® (Model MI60) Intraocular Lens in the 40 eyes Alex Eye Center,Alexandria-(EGYPT) Nour Al-Haya Eye Center,Cairo-(EGYPT)

Methods:

A Prospective, Multi-Center Clinical Investigation to Evaluate the intermediate vision after targeting a slight monovision of (-1.0D) in the non-dominant eyes of 20 patients and targeting emmetropia in their dominant eyes with implantation of the Bausch & Lomb AKREOS® (Model MI60) Intraocular Lens with zero spherical aberrations which will mentain the inherited positive spherical aberrations of the cornea which in turns give better depth of focus.

Results:

All patients were scheduled for 1 day-1 Week -2 Weeks -1 Month post op follow up And results will be sent before the 1st of July.

Conclusions:

Its possible to achieve very good intermediate vision while maintaining the far vision using monofocal IOLs.
