Abstract Details


To evaluate and compare the postoperative stability of a 1-piece loop type-haptic intraocular lens (IOL) (Tecnis® ZCB00) and a plate-haptic IOL (Zeiss® CT509M).

Sixty-three eyes that had phacoemulsification and in the bag IOL implantation were included retrospectively between April 2015 and July 2015. Internal cylinder and internal wavefront analysis at 4 mm pupil (total aberration, tilt, high order aberration, coma, trefoil, spherical aberration) were evaluated through aberrometer (OPD scan III®) at postoperative 1 day, 1week and 1 month.


The Tecnis® ZCB00 was implanted in 33 eyes and the Zeiss® CT509M in 30 eyes. Internal cylinder, tilt, and trefoil showed significant difference throughout postoperative 1 month periods in two IOLs (p=0.048, p=0.031, and p=0.03). Differences of internal cylinder and trefoil over time were fewer in Tecnis® ZCB00 (p=0.01, 0.014). Although total aberration showed no significant differences throughout 1 month, mean total aberration in Tecnis® ZCB00 was significantly less than Zeiss® CT509M (p=0.008).


Loop type-IOL (Tecnis® ZCB00) had better stability and fewer internal total aberrations than plate-haptic IOL (Zeiss® CT509M).
