Abstract Details

Purpose:

The purpose of this poster is to present clinical results of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation for preexisting astigmatism correction and determine any postoperative rotation.

Setting:

118 eyes of 109 patients underwent uncomplicated phacoemulsification and were implanted with an AcrySof© Toric IOL (T2).

Methods:

Uncorrected visual acuity, residual astigmatism and postoperative rotation of the IOL were estimated six months after the surgery.

Results:

Uncorrected visual acuity was ≥ 16/20 in 114 out of 118 eyes (96,61 %) and ≥ 20/20 in 98 out of 118 eyes (83,05 %). Six months after the surgery the median toric IOL axis rotation was 1.0 ± 2.5° (range 1.5°–5.0°).

Conclusions:

The implanted one-piece hydrophobic acrylic toric IOLs have a good stability, deliver an encouraging visual outcome and therefore represent an attractive alternative for the correction of small refractive astigmatism.
