Abstract Details

Purpose:

We analysed the data obtained in the European multicenter study we took part in for 6 months through the study of the results of the implantation of this new extended focus lens

Setting:

Universitary Hospital Quirón Madrid

Methods:

146 extended focus lenses were studied and compared with 30 trifocal diffractive lenses and 153 bifocal diffractive lenses, analysing the results obtained in terms of near, intermediate and far visual acuity, as well as patient satisfaction.

Results:

We found that this lens performs better than the other ones analysed in terms of intermediate binocular acuity, as well as regarding visual effects and reflection or glares. Also, patient as well as surgeon satisfaction is analysed.

Conclusions:

Extended focus lens provides good vision as well as independence from corrective lenses at any distances. If implanted in single-vision mode we improve near visual acuity even more. The level of satisfaction among patients was very high, as 95% of them stated they would recommend this lens to their family and friends.
